The Schools of Ambition programme was launched in 2005. There are 52 schools on the Schools of Ambition programme. They are a mix of already high performing schools, those that need to improve after poor inspection reports, and those that recognise they can improve their performance even more.

Each school can receive additional funding (£100,000 per annum) over a three-year period to implement proposals contained within a locally negotiated ‘transformational plan’. They are expected to share their experiences and successes with other schools so that the whole education system benefits. (SPICe Research)
